Pilgrim

Image

Drowned under a pool of wanderers
With walking sticks, going astray.
Fragile bodies, docile lambs
Passing by the alley
Enthralled with sun-scorched heat.

Calling names, people standing
Sleepy hollows, appalling, frantic
In this brightest time of day.
Heads unbowed, fists unclenched
Eyes closed, ears wide open
Pleading for mercy, loving kindness
Sweet repose, words of comfort.

Wading through a glimmer of hope
Sparrow chirping, wings toward the sky.
Hermits sitting, smiling haughtily
Nonchalant of time passing by.

Some time, a voice will call me.
Mesmerizing, enchanting,
A voice ringing out of nowhere.
Some day, as I stand above my woes
In this brightest time of day.
