John Raymond Jison completed his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science at the University of the Philippines (UP) in Manila. He is a former Vice Chairperson for Internal Affairs of the UP Political Science Society and President of the UP Manila Student Assistant Council. He is nominated for membership to two renowned honor societies: the Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society in the Social Sciences and the Phi Kappa Phi International Honor Society. He aspires to become a human rights lawyer someday. As a social science researcher, his research interests include development studies, international politics, fisher folks rights, and the political economy of marginalization, among others. Currently, he is an editor for A Different View (ADV), the official international affairs blog of the Netherlands-based International Association for Political Science Students (IAPSS), where he also served as an editor-in-chief; and a member of the faculty at the Division of Political Science, Department of Social Sciences, University of the Philippines Los Banos.
Although his lack of interest to sports (basketball, to name one) or other athletic activities borders to the pathological, John is content to have his love for world geography and history suffice this lack. As an avid bibliophile, he loves to read legal fiction, preferably John Grisham’s, and finds inexplicable solace in the sight and smell of books. He maintains a six-year old Twitter account (@JRJison), which you can follow for updates about his life or his work.
